2024 marked a significant moment in MIDNIGHT ODYSSEY’s history, as for the first time in 17 years, Dis Pater brought additional musicians into his project to perform live in Europe.
“A Mass Of Fallen Stars” celebrates the event by offering fans the first live audiovisual document of MIDNIGHT ODYSSEY, recorded and filmed in Toulon, France, inside a Protestant temple. An evocative and perfect place to welcome MIDNIGHT ODYSSEY’s atmospheric black metal, which thus takes on further mystical and spiritual accents.
Thanks to a setlist that draws on songs from all the band’s recordings (from the seminal 2009 demo “Firmament” to the majestic “Biolume” trilogy, passing through the acclaimed masterpieces of “Funerals From The Astral Sphere” and “Shards Of Silver Fade”), “A Mass Of Fallen Stars” offers a complete overview of the stylistic code of an artist that over time has synthesized a personal musical formula ranging from atmospheric black metal to ambient, from symphonic doom metal to dark wave.
The blue lights that envelop MIDNIGHT ODYSSEY during their performance convey the idea of a great gig in the sky, a liturgical ceremony of cosmic proportions performed in front of a mesmerized and visibly moved audience, blissfully lost in splendid nocturnal melodies and dreamlike dimensions that transcend life and death.
