JUNON brings together musicians from across Germany who have been active for decades in bands such as HIDDEN IN THE FOG, IMHA TARIKAT, TEMPLE KOLUDRA, and more. Their debut album, “The Golden Citadel of the Astral Sphere,” follows a 2025 demo that previewed its contents and was met with unanimous acclaim.
Described by some like a lost black metal side project from THE DEVIL’S BLOOD, JUNON fuse the raw essence of second-wave black metal, psychedelic rock, and virtuoso, untamed female vocals with avant-garde compositional approach. “An eye-popping pageant imagined by someone in the throes of infernal possession and/or psychoactive drugs,” as the guys at No Clean Singing rightly observed.
Sindre Foss Skancke’s cover and inner art doesn’t just support the music, but distills and encapsulates the essence of an album characterized with raw, unconventional sounds imbued with essential beauty, both disturbing and enigmatic. A bold sonic entity born from the dissolution of consolidated structures, “The Golden Citadel Of The Astral Sphere” culminates in the 21-minute closing track “Dolorosa,” where JUNON’s occult black metal is theatrically dismembered and reassembled, sublimated through harmonic constructions steeped in magic, madness, and delirium to take on new spiritual forms in the darkness.
Released on CD, strictly limited to 222 copies printed on reverse board/uncoated paper with gold Pantone finishes.
